You have the opportunity to deal with the game, pumping character, and then sell it to another player in an out-of-game marketplace with the preservation of all the characteristics (Gang, Authority, etc.). To do this, you will need to go on a so-called "indefinite leave", for which you will have to pay a certain amount of Dirty Money. This action will mean that you are out of the game - meaning you don't get any income from your share in the Gang, but you retain your Gang membership and Authority points. So, if you go on "indefinite leave," you can take your Character Card out of the game and freely sell it, after which the buyer can bring it back into the game (return from "indefinite leave") and continue full game activity.
